I'm in this competition to lose 10% of my weight in 12 weeks or less- thanks to one of my smack talking friends :)
So I started a different way of eating. I'm telling myself it's not a diet otherwise I'm bound to fail! There's money on the line so I really can't afford to lose. I'm doing this non diet- where my meals are proportioned and I have to eat tons of rabbit food, and fruit (at least I like fruit).
I made a recent discovery about myself in the one day I've been on the non diet. I consider myself to be a pretty health conscious person (you can't tell by my plump figure), but I have been doing something subconsciously probably since I became a mom.
I eat my kids left overs!-A lot! I pick at their food and don't even realize it. Because I was paying attention yesterday, since I can ONLY eat what's on my non diet plan I had to mentally STOP myself so many times yesterday when I naturally licked the bit of peanut butter that was left on the knife, or eat the grapes left that Josh doesn't ever eat. So all these years I've been consuming extra calories at breakfast, lunch and dinner!
Please tell me I'm not the only one that does this.Yikes! I probably have tons more bad habits that I need to break that I don't even realize! So that was my revelation for yesterday. So to my friend who shall remain nameless- you better watch out- cause I'm taking the jack pot!!!

Caroline,
What non diet plan are you doing? Mine not working so much because I'm a big fat cheater and I too eat my kids leftovers. You are not alone my friend. I read a article that said most people are over weight because they snack so much and it's like eating 7 meals a day. Wow I felt like a heffer after that seeing how I do snack all day long. I need help!!!!
You eat your kids' leftovers?!?! Me too-haha!! In my defense, it's only the little things (crackers, grapes, things like that). Good luck on the diet..oops!..I mean "non"diet :)
PS I looove the name Lincoln, but Matt didn't. [sigh] This is tough!!
i just spent a bunch of time writing a comment and then my internet shut down on me, so, good luck!! let us know how it works out!!!
I think every mom is guilty of eating their kids left-overs...I know both Nathan and I are! It's no secret that Nathan and I are hefty eaters, we can't hide it! Portion control I think is so important, and it is so hard for me! Good luck, you'll do great! And you are NOT plump by the way!
Good for you! I have been trying to do the same thing! As in the non-diet lifestyle change. The longer you go the easier it is to just make healthier choices. I seem to always get off track when I go out of town, so be ware of that!
oh!! sorry caroline! I'll warn you about the next post.
yes, it was a wilton class. if it makes you feel any better, the frosting isn't so good. i always felt really fat after eating it because it's mostly shortening. SICK!!!
next time i'm in texas, i'll make a cake for everyone to try. you can cheat for just one day, right? it's all about moderation.
Hey Caroline,
Cute blog! And yes, yes, yes! I eat my kids leftovers all the time--I just hate throwing away food. :-(
Sometimes I pick at Jack's leftovers, but he's still learning to use utensils. That means that most of the time his leftovers are really gross and mixed up together. That kind of cures my urge to pick.
Just wanted to thank you for you kind thoughts and prayers for our niece Avery! She is still doing remarkably well for how small she is! The prayers are working :)
