So I've been tagged! Here goes:
* CAUTION- I'm really long winded, so this is lengthy! which is why I usually don't do these. You've been warned. Read a your at your own risk*
1. I lived in Costa Rica for a year after I graduated HS.- after graduation, I had plans to attend college in California, when my parents decided to move to Wendover, Utah. I was only 17 years old when I graduated, so my parents refused to let me stay in CA and do the college thing with out them there. So they gave me 2 options: 1- move to Wendover (small casino town in the middle of no where), or 2- move to Costa Rica and live with my aunt and uncle and their awesome family until I turned 18.
Easy choice! I lived there for one life changing year. I am who I am today because of that one year. I learned SO much and was being prepared for things to come. Plus I became fluent in Spanish as a result of living there.
2. I went 7 high schools, have lived in New York, California, Utah, Texas and Costa Rica.In case you couldn't tell from #1 - my parents moved A LOT! due to their management jobs. It wasn't very fun, but I did learn to adapt easily to new things by the end.
3. Though I'm super clumsy, I've never broken any bones- I stub my toe(s) like every other day, and don't make it through a day with out a trip or spill. I must have an amazing guardian angel.
4. I was superwoman in dental hygiene school- I know that sounds weird or arrogant, but I don't mean it that way. when I look back to that period of time I can't believe all the things I was doing and didn't really realize it then. I was pregnant with Zach and had him in the first year (Josh was 2) , while I was class president, nursed him and pumped everyday 4 times a day at school the second year, drove an hour each way to school & back , graduated magna cum laude, top of my class, scored 98 on boards, 97 on clinicals, studied and slept less than 6 hours a night. Yet, I don't ever remember being tired or overwhelmed and was always really organized. I also earned 5 different academic scholarships that paid for my tuition, supplies, and cost of living, so I went to hygiene school for free and even got paid a little. Fast forward to now, sleepy all of the time yet get 8 hrs of sleep, my house is always a mess no matter how much I try to stay on top of it, I don't get much accomplished (on paper anyway) and I'm not as organized as I used to be (super scatterbrained!) and I often feel overwhelmed... but I love it. I think I'm a better mom because of hygiene school. But I still look back and scratch my head, wondering how on earth I did that. One theory- I had super parent- in laws and husband that supported me and made it possible. Thanks mom and dad Asay and Mike for helping make one of my dreams come true!
5. I secretly like it when my kids are sick. (mildly sick not scary or hurting), I know that sounds bad, but I kind of like it when I get to baby my babies, and watch Disney movies , read, and just be with them all day at home. Gives me a good excuse to let them eat on the couch, let the house go to pot, and do nothing but veg with my kids and enjoy being a mom. I know I should do that all the time anyway, but then nothing would get done. So hurray for occasional colds!
6. Mike and I have our own language(S)- in two ways: 1- the dental language- both being in the dental field, we have discovered that we can talk about teeth for hours at a time without anyone around us knowing what the heck we're saying- pretty fun- we love it.
2- Sillyness /weirdness language- Mike will die when he knows I'm telling, but I think it's pretty normal to have your own spouse language. When we dated I noticed that he changed the names of things (an Asay thing) and I loved that about him and found myself doing the same thing w/out realizing it. But my silly names sounded weirder and not as cutsie. Mike thought this was hilarious and decided to compete with me on weirdness. So now we talk about stuff using the weird names we've adopted over the years and understand each other perfectly. Our kids give us really funny looks sometimes wondering how we're understanding each other. They're catching on and adopting the language as they decipher the code. Interesting thing is we never slip, when people are around we don't do it at all, but the second we're alone it naturally comes out.

Love you,
mom
first of all, i already told you this but i LOVE those pictures of your family on the sidebar. i sat through the whole slideshow so i could see every picture. i love that close up of bella. i never noticed before but i think she looks a lot like griff.
second, i was cracking up about the second language because it IS an asay thing. brad used to laugh at me for doing it but he does it now, too. but we, too, keep it pretty secret. don't want people thinking we're wierdos. : )
I so want to hear you two talk in code, that is totally funny. I wanted to comment on the cute pictures on the side too, don't you love Katie Evans!
Sheryl
That was really fun to read about you! I can't believe you went to 7 high schools! And when I read about the language I knew that it was an Asay thing, then I read Carrie's comment and it further confirmed this :) We (brady and i) already have our own language, and sometimes worry about slipping up. Hasn't happened yet!
Hey Austin Asays!! Cute blog! I love all the pictures and the info about your family!! Everybody's growing up so fast, aren't they?? It's so fun to see you guys and what your family's up to!! I hear once in a while what's going on with all the Texans, but not very often. Anyway...love the blog!! ;)
~Amy
PS is it okay if I add ya to ours??
The Asay language is pretty fun. Even Eric is picking up on the way things work! Our favorite is to make up songs about everything we do. Also, your superwoman one is funny because everyone else knew how much you were taking on, its a good thing YOU didn't realize it at the time! Way to go!!
I totally want to know the secret Asay code now! That's too funny! Loved the 6 things about you, you're such a fun mom. I emailed you about coming to visit, did you get it? I'll send it again. It was a while ago you were probably on vacation then. :)
You made the right choice not moving to Wendover. That place is in the middle of no where I would go CRAZY living there.
I just tagged you again! This time its about husbands. Don't feel obligated to do it.
I love this entry!
